Our Registered Charity Picks!
This time of year we are often asked for advise on finding a registered charity in Nunavut for donation. There are many many food aid and charitable programs across Nunavut. At times, all need donations. Unfortunately not many are recognized registered charities with CRA.
Here are three of our favourite registered charities that align with Feeding Nunavut’s goals, they are based in Nunavut, serve Nunavumuitt, a donation should get you a tax deduction receipt and we think they are doing good work !! Check them out …
Ilisaqsivik Society
Ilisaqsivik is a community-based Inuit organization in Clyde River, Nunavut. It seems to us that whenever their is a tragic event in one of the communities, counsellors from Ilisaqsivik are deployed. The Society also offers healing and wellness programming including land based initiatives in Clyde River. We think they are doing important work.
Check out their website for more info on how they are making a difference.
Qajuqturvik Community Food Centre
We have watched this charity grow from a Soup Kitchen into a hub of food culture in the territory capital. We applaud the scope of the centre’s diverse and expanding food security programming, their advocacy work and their commitment to food sovereignty for all Nunavummiut. We think the food centre is doing important work in Iqaluit.
